The Hope Of The Resurrection

June 29, 2022

(Job 14:12-14)
So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep. O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me! If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.

FACT – Everything is broken. Our bodies, our minds, the plant and animal life, creation it self has be broken since man’s fall into sin.
(Rom 8:22) For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.

LET”S TAKE A LOOK AT VERSES IN THE FIRST BLOOD COVENANT ABOUT THE RESURRECTION
The clearest verse in the first covenant of the resurrection is
(Dan 12:2) And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

Death is refer to as sleep in the Scriptures.
There will also be two resurrections. The first of the righteous. See Revelations 20:4-6 and the second of the unrighteous. See Revelations 20 whole chapter.

(Job 19:25-26)
For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see Elohim:

(Eze 37:12-13)
Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Adonai YHWH; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel. And ye shall know that I am YHWH, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves,

The verse in Ezekiel 37:1-14 are talking about the valley of dry bones.

(Hos 13:14)
I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction: repentance shall be hid from mine eyes.

YHWH says in this verse that He will ransom us from the power of the grave – redeem us from death.

(Isa 25:8)
He will swallow up death in victory; and the Adonai YHWH will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for YHWH hath spoken it.

YHWH will swallow up death in victory.

(Psa 16:9-10)
Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope. For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

YHWH gives a prophesy of Messiah’s resurrection from death.

(Psa 17:15)
As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.

MESSIAH’S WORDS ON THE RESURRECTION
(Joh 5:21-29)
For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will. For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself; And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man. Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

Verses 28-29 almost quotes Daniel 12:2 in that there will be a resurrection to everlasting life and a resurrection of damnation. 2 Resurrections

(Joh 6:37-40)
All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

Messiah speaks again of the resurrection to life and that He will raise us up on the last day.

(Joh 11:23-27)
YHWH Messiah saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. YHWH Messiah said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? She saith unto him, Yea, Master: I believe that thou art the Messiah, the Son of Elohim, which should come into the world.

John 11 the whole chapter talks about the raising of Lazarus from the dead. Again in these verses death is referred to as sleeping. messiah says that we will nver die. We die one time but we don’t have to die the second time IF we believe and live in Messiah YHWH.

(Mat 22:23-33)
The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him, Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother. Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother: Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh. And last of all the woman died also. Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her. YHWH Messiah answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of Elohim. For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of Elohim in heaven. But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by Elohim, saying, I am the Elohim of Abraham, and the Elohim of Isaac, and the Elohim of Jacob? Elohim is not the Elohim of the dead, but of the living. And when the multitude heard this, they were astonished at his doctrine.

Sadducees ask about the resurrection and Messiah those accounted worthy of the first resurrection will not marry but will be like the angels of YHWH.

THE EARLY ASSEMBLY TAUGHT ABOUT THE RESURECTION
The Books of Acts is full of Scriptures of the apostles and early assembly teaching about Messiah’s resurrection from death.

(Act 2:22-32)
Ye men of Israel, hear these words; YHWH of Nazareth, a man approved of Elohim among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which Elohim did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know: Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of Elohim, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain: Whom Elohim hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it. For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw Adonai always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved: Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope: Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance. Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day. Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that Elohim had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Messiah to sit on his throne; He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Messiah, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. This YHWH the Messiah hath Elohim raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.

(Act 13:26-37)
Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth Elohim, to you is the word of this salvation sent. For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him. And though they found no cause of death in him, yet desired they Pilate that he should be slain. And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a sepulchre. But Elohim raised him from the dead: And he was seen many days of them which came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses unto the people. And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the fathers, Elohim hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up YHWH the Messiah again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee. And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David. Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of Elohim, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption: But he, whom Elohim raised again, saw no corruption.

(Act 24:15-21)
And have hope toward Elohim, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust. And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward Elohim, and toward men. Now after many years I came to bring alms to my nation, and offerings. Whereupon certain Jews from Asia found me purified in the temple, neither with multitude, nor with tumult. Who ought to have been here before thee, and object, if they had ought against me. Or else let these same here say, if they have found any evil doing in me, while I stood before the council, Except it be for this one voice, that I cried standing among them, Touching the resurrection of the dead I am called in question by you this day.

Acts 24:15 repeats Daniel 12:2 and John 5:28-29 that therer will be a resurrection of the just and unjust.

For more study here are more reference of the resurrection in Acts; 4:1,10, 5:30, 10:40, 17:18, 31-21, 23:6-8, 26:6-8,23

OUR HOPE: ROMANS – REVELATIONS
(Romans 8:11)
But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Messiah from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

If we have the Holy Spirit dwelling in us it will quicken (re-vitalize, make alive) our mortal bodies.

(Philippians 3:10-11)
That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.

Paul’s hope is to be counted worthy to experience the power of Messiah’s resurrection and the first resurrection.

(Philippians 3:21)
Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

At the resurrection our vile, corruptible bodies will be changed to be like Messiah’s glorious, incorruptible body.

(1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)
But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that YHWH Messiah died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in YHWH Messiah will Elohim bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of YHWH, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Master shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Master himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of Elohim: and the dead in Messiah shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Master. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

We are to comfort one another with the words of hope on the resurrection and the coming of Messiah back to this fallen earth.

Death, again, is refer to sleep in these Scriptures.

(Revelation 20:4-6)
And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of YHWH Messiah, and for the word of Elohim, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Messiah a thousand years. But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of Elohim and of Messiah, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power.

1 CORINTHAINS 15 – THE RESURRECTION CHAPTER
(1 Corinthians 15:3-4)
For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Messiah died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

The preaching of the gospel message includes the teaching of the resurrection from the dead.

(1 Corinthians 15:6)
After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.

Again in Scriptures death is refer to fallen asleep.

(1 Corinthians 15:12-19)
Now if Messiah be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Messiah not risen: And if Messiah be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain. Yea, and we are found false witnesses of Elohim; because we have testified of Elohim that he raised up Messiah: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not. For if the dead rise not, then is not Messiah raised: And if Messiah be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. Then they also which are fallen asleep in Messiah are perished. If in this life only we have hope in Messiah, we are of all men most miserable.

Messiah’s resurrection from the dead is essential to the preaching of the gospel and for our faith.

(1 Corinthians 15:23)
But every man in his own order: Messiah the firstfruits; afterward they that are Messiah’s at his coming.

Messiah is the first-fruits of resurrection. He is the first one to be risen to eternal life.

Verse 35-57 explains the resurrection from the dead.
It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption.
It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory.
It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power.
It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body.
There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.

(1 Corinthians 15:49)
And as we have borne ( to have a burden, to wear as clothing, to bear/wear) the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

(1 Corinthians 15:50)
Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of Elohim; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
Corruption can not inherit (to be a heir to) the kingdom of YHWH.
The dead (those asleep) will be raised to incorruption.

(1 Corinthians 15:53)
For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
When this happens it will fulfill the Scriptural promise; (Isaiah 25:8)
He will swallow up death in victory; and the Adonai YHWH will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for YHWH hath spoken it.

(1 Corinthians 15:55)
O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
(Hosea 13:14)
I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction: repentance shall be hid from mine eyes.

Acts 2:38

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Yahwah Ha Mashiach for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
